TREE OF REMEMBRANCE CHRISTMAS 2011

Friday 16th December - Friday 24th December in Navan Town Centre

This Christmas, the Rotary Club of Navan are launching a Remembrance Tree Project at 4pm on the 16th which they hope will both capture the essence of the Christmas spirit and also provide a simple yet poignant way of remembering loved ones amid the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, with Christmas Carols, mulled wine and mince pies in the Town Centre at the Kennedy Road entrance. The Lord Mayor, town and County Councillors will attend, you are welcome to write your personal message of remembrance on a yellow ribbon and this will be placed on the tree in a colourful garland. While there is no charge, donations are welcome.

Funds raised will go to this years special charities – Alzheimer’s Society, Meals on Wheels, the Navan St. Vincent de Paul Society and Rotary Charities

The organiser of this year’s Tree is Lisa Rowntree, President Elect, Navan Rotary. Lisa said that this Christmas will be one of the toughest in living memory on a lot of people, with many people having so many worries, the tree offers a moment of reflection and a time to remember loved ones in a special and simple way. We hope that people will take a look at the tree, with each ribbon having its own story of love and sadness, and that the true spirit of Christmas will be made evident for one special moment
