Rotary Tree of Remembrance back again for Christmas

Date:Friday 16th December 2016

The Tree of Remembrance is a very important event in the Navan Rotary Calender which we run each year at Christmas. Under the direction of John Craig and Peter O Reilly the 2016 event promises to be just as successful as previous years. All the proceeds go to Local Charities.

What is it? - NAVAN ROTARY TREE OF REMEMBRANCE

Where is it? - Navan Town Centre and Johnstown Shopping Centre

When is it? - Friday 16th to the 24th DECEMBER

Tie a yellow ribbon

The purpose of the tree is to give members of the public an opportunity to write a message of remembrance on a silky yellow ribbon, in recognition and memory of departed loved ones, those living abroad, who cannot be with them over the Christmas period, family or friends in hospital or ill at home, or for any other reason, to remember someone at this time of the year. All ribbons are then attached onto looped strings of tape, and gradually hoisted to the top of the Tree of Remembrance, as the tapes fill up. In return, people are requested to make a small donation towards the Rotary Club’s charitable fund. All monies collected will be distributed to local charities.
