Be A Gift To Crumlin

Navan Rotary Club were very pleased to have Daniel O’Reilly, Rotary Club of Monaghan, as there guest speaker on Tuesday last 7th February 2017.

Daniel gave an excellent presentation on a project very close to his own heart that is now better known as ‘Be a Gift to Crumlin’. This has become a Rotary Service Project started by the Monaghan Rotary Club but adopted by Rotary Clubs all over Ireland, both North and South.

This project is about the Parents Accommodation Unit (PAU) in Our Ladys Childrens Hospital, Crumlin in Dublin.

(PAU) is the former nursing quarters for OLCHC offering 45 small, outdated bedrooms. The unit is funded entirely by parental contributions and donations from outside organisations. Whilst the unit provides a small amount of normality for parents of sick children, it is extremely under resourced and outdated with decor dating back to the sixties. PAU is an essential facility for parents of sick children. It is within 2 minutes walk of all wards in OLCHC It provides a kitchen, bathroom facilities and small living rooms along with free hot meals most evenings.

The Rotary objective is to refurbish all of these rooms and to bring them up to date (simple useable accommodation).

Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin provides excellent healthcare to children from all over Ireland every day. Navan President Brendan Smyth said that Navan Rotary were very pleased to help with this project.
