Peter O Reilly R.I.P.

It is with great sadness and regret that we announce the death of our esteemed Past President Peter O Reilly.

Peter was President of the Rotary Club of Navan for the 2010-11 term. He was born at Maudabawn, Co. Cavan, and was a World renowned Fly-fisherman and author. Peter joined the Navan Club in 2007 and served in many capacities before becoming President.

He passed away peacefully on Thursday, 6th December at the Bon Secours, Dublin after a long illness surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Rose and proud father of Patrick, also deeply mourned by his sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Peter has been described as the doyen of the countrys fly-fishing, credited with popularising and illuminating the sport here in a series of bestselling books.

Peter was awarded the Paul Harris in 2014

The Paul Harris Fellowship Award is one of the highest honors Rotary can bestow upon a person. Recipients are Rotarians and community professionals in recognition of their outstanding contributions, exemplifying the highest ideal in Rotary in placing “SERVICE ABOVE SELF.”
